Roland is an award-winning series creator, showrunner, script editor and scriptwriter working in a wide range of genres for film and television in UK, Europe, America, and China. He is a member of BAFTA and the Writers' Guild.

Series Creator, Showrunner and Scriptwriter

​

Recently he worked as co-creator on the supernatural drama series, FALLEN, based on the best-selling books by Lauren Kate. The series will be released at the end of 2023.

​

He created the BBC1 returning award-winning period drama series, LAND GIRLS and he was the Showrunner on HUMANS for Endemol Shine China and Croton Media. HUMANS is the first sci-fi thriller series ever made for Chinese television. Roland storylined the 30 part series (based on the AMC/C4 series). The series aired in China on TenCent and iQiyi gaining over 30 million views in the first day!

His children’s feature film 2:HRS received its theatrical premiere in the UK. His feature film SUMMER CAN WAIT was released in 2021.

Script Editor and Consultant

​

Roland is also a script editor and consultant. His script editing work includes HUMANS for Endemol Shine, and the DW AUDIO NOVEL RANGE and other scripts for Big Finish. He recently was employed as a mentor on the prestigious Bridging the Dragon event - where he mentored projects from producers in China and Europe. He also was a mentor at the London Screenwriters' Festival Talent Campus. Roland guest lectures at a variety of UK universities including Westminster, Oxford Brookes,  and De Montford.

Recently, he was invited to Islands of Fiction as part of the Mallorca Film Festival - to talk about TV series development.

Awards

​

His awards include the London Writers' Award, a Royal Television Society Award, a Broadcast Award for Best Programme, and a Redemptive Storyteller Award. He has had nominations for TAPS Comedy Award and the Southend New Writing Festival.
